Overview

The Summer Learning Experience is curriculum based.  During the summer students will read two books.

One book will be assigned from a core curricular area (4-year curricular requirement): English, Theology, and Math.  One book will be assigned from one of the 3-year required subjects: World Language, Social Studies, and Science.

Although two books are assigned, it is possible that some students will only read one book if they do not have a class in the second department next school year.

This year, the assigning departments are Math and World Language.

Assessment

Students should be prepared to take a test about the books when they return to school in the fall.

In addition, teachers in the Math and World Language Departments will be incorporating the book into additional classroom activities during the first half of the year.

AP Exemptions

Students in AP Calculus and AP Statistics are exempt from reading The Joy of X.

Students in AP Spanish are exempt from reading The Four Agreements.
